What You Get With
Over 50’s Health
Over 50’s Health is excited to work with people who are conscious of their health. We know the benefits that a holistic approach including strength training, nutrition, cardio, and mental health can provide. We help our clients become masters of their own health! By learning correct techniques when lifting weights to increase strength and change body composition and reducing the risk of injury mixed with a balance of cardio exercise to increase cardiovascular health. By providing education about nutrition and how food is fuel and how beneficial it is to look after your mental health. Our Founder is a Powerlifter who holds multiple Australian Records, Oceania Records, and World Records, an International Referee with World Powerlifting, and an accredited Powerlifting Coach under the NCAS and holds a Diploma in Sports & Exercise Nutrition.
We have a Team of Accredited Trainers and Coaches, covering all aspects of Strength Training, Personal Training, Clinical Nutrition and support for you Heart and Mind Health.

Participating in regular exercise including resistance training, or strength training has an amazing effect on our mental health!

Personal 1-2-1 Training
1-2-1 training will help you improve your strength, endurance, and body composition.
Train with qualified strength coaches, powerlifting coaches, and personal trainers.
From $88/30 min session

Small Group Strength
Want focused attention from an experienced coach, but want to train with friends, the smaller group sessions may be for you! May be for you if you are recovering from illness, have experienced muscle loss as you age, have been through or are going through cancer treatment, or have physical disabilities.
Limited to 6 people per coach. The program runs over an average of 12 weeks.

Powerlifting & Strength Training
Our Powerlifting Coach is experienced as a lifter, competitor, National Powerlifting Coach, and an International Referee with World Powerlifting. Our Coach also understands what it’s like to train and recover as a lifter who is over 50. Needless to say, you will be in good hands!
If you want to train in the sport of Powerlifting, this is a great place to start, or to return to if you miss the gym!

Exercise Physiology & Assessments
We work closely with our experts and combine their recommendations with our strength training.
You may have been to your Physio, Osteopath, Exercise Physiologist, or even your GP, and they have said you need to do some rehab, or strength training.
We work very closely with practitioners to support you with your programs.

Clinical Nutrition
Few people realise dietary requirements for people aged over 50 change dramatically. Nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all and what they ate in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s is not what they need to eat now.
We want to work with people to make sure they are not just surviving but thriving! Allowing them to stay healthy and live an independent lifestyle for as long as possible!

Jan is truly an inspiration and a motivator; she doesn’t let age be a barrier to your ability or goals. Working with Jan you not only learn the correct techniques to power lifting and training, but also how to prepare your body. As we all start getting older we find we have more “niggles” and these can often be a physical as well as a mental hurdle. I would often get pain through the back and across the front of my knee – this led to me cutting down my leg exercises as I was worried I would aggravate the injury and it would interfere with my sport of dragon boating. Jan taught me how to do activations (which are completely different to stretching) before exercises, which essentially is waking up your muscles ready for training. Since doing these activations the pain through my knee has ceased – the activations have allowed me to increase my leg training thus strengthening my glutes, hamstrings and lower back which were indirectly the cause of my knee pain. Using Jan’s techniques you are also lifting correctly avoiding any potential for injury which is very important when you start lifting heavier weights. I have since increased my weights massively since working with Jan.
Whilst all this sounds very serious, working with Jan is heaps of fun. She is able to make a personal connection with each of her clients and importantly she listens. You will often hear laughter coming from her corner which is a testament at how she puts her clients at ease in an often confronting environment if you are not used to a gym.
I would suggest you pop down to Dolphins Fitness and watch Jan train – she definitely practices what she preaches and is a shining example of what you can achieve when you have the right preparation, techniques and motivation.
